In 2012 I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Imaging. During my time as an undergraduate student I was able to gain experience in a variety of clinical settings across both Glasgow and Edinburgh health boards.
I began my career as a Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer that same year with NHS Lothian, based at St. John's Hospital in Livingston, before soon moving site to work at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. In 2013, I then went to work with NHS Forth Valley at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, before I left to return to St. John's Hospital in 2016 where I progressed to Band 6.
Shortly after this in 2017, I began my PgD in Medical Ultrasound at the University of Cumbria. I qualified in 2019 and began working as a Band 7 Specialist Sonographer at St. John's Hospital, specialising in obstetrics, general, gynaecology and breast ultrasound. I worked as a Sonographer for a year before deciding to self-fund my MSc in Medical Ultrasound at Glasgow Caledonian University.
During my clinical career, I have always had a passion for learning and have been actively involved in student teaching and assessments. I was also most recently the Lead for Training and Education for NHS Lothian west sector, prior to joining Queen Margaret University to become a Lecturer in 2024.
My MSc dissertation was titled "The accuracy of shear-wave elastography for the assessment of pathological response to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients: A systematic literature review." This is an area that I am very passionate about and so would like to pursue further.
