Scottish Government Microfinance Enterprise Fund 2025

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS

Applications for the Scottish Government Microfinance Fund 2025 are now invited from current students and staff of 17勛圖厙.

This fund is intended to support students and staff from Scottish universities in achieving their entrepreneurial ambitions by offering awards of 瞿1,000 - 瞿3,000 to enable them to progress their business ideas.

Please read the following carefully for eligibility criteria and an overview of the competition process:

  1. The scheme supports early-stage entrepreneurs by providing training and small-scale funding to help test their ideas.
  2. Current QMU students and staff are eligible to apply.
  3. Projects must be pre-incorporation without a business bank account.
  4. The scheme is open to projects that have received less than 瞿5,000 in financial support for business, commercialisation or enterprise activities to date.
  5. Applications will only be accepted via the QMU for the Scottish Government Microfinance Fund 2025.
  6. This is a competitive funding call, and you must clearly demonstrate your ambitions for your business and how the funding will help you achieve them.
  7. Awards will range from 瞿1,000 - 瞿3,000.
  8. Applicants must specify the value of funding they are requesting and provide a breakdown of how it will be spent as part of the application process.
  9. The deadline for applications is 23:59 on Tuesday 4th March 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
  10. Applications will be assessed by a Panel of senior QMU staff. Applications will be reviewed individually and in the context of all the applications received.
  11. Applicants will be notified of the decision regarding their application via email. The decision of the panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  12. Awarded monies will be credited to the successful applicants' bank accounts by QMU by 31st March 2025.
  13. Applicants should be aware that successful grants may not reflect the full amount requested. A contribution to the total fund requested may be granted instead.
  14. In accepting an award, successful applicants agree to provide a brief summary report to QMU 6 months after receipt of funds to show how the award has impacted their business.
  15. Successful applicants will be invited to participate in an entrepreneurial skills workshop to be delivered by in Spring 2025 (date to be confirmed).
