Knowledge Exchange

Knowledge Exchange (KE) is a vital process that connects research with businesses, charities, public sector organisations, and investors to drive impactful innovation. Acting as a bridge, KE enables breakthrough discoveries, incremental improvements and new products to move from the lab or office into the wider world.

By connecting the right people with the right resources, KE helps unlock potential and transform ideas into real-world innovations, creating lasting societal and economic benefits.

At QMU, we are committed to KE as a means by which to achieve our institutional mission of inspiring, informing and enabling positive social change. We were one of the first Scottish universities to sign up to the Knowledge Exchange Concordat.

We use KE to share our expertise, research, and innovation outputs with our partners and collaborators, and believe this is key to maximising the impact our institution.

Services for Business and Industry

Through KE activities, we engage with and support a range of external stakeholders, including educational institutions, charities, NGOs, governmental groups, policy makers, patient groups, healthcare providers, SMEs, start-ups and large businesses.

Support for Business Creation and Entrepreneurship

We also use KE as a tool to support QMU students, graduates, staff and members of the local community who aspire to set up their own businesses and embark on a career as an entrepreneur.

A variety of support is available for enterprise, entrepreneurship, and the commercialisation of research outputs.
