I originally qualifiedÌýas an Occupational Therapist from the University College of Ripon and York St. JohnÌýandÌýlater went on to receive anÌýMSc from Coventry University.ÌýAs an Occupational therapistÌýI have had a diverse careerÌýand have worked in clinical, educational, and leadership postsÌýin Scotland, EnglandÌýand Canada. Ìý
Most of my clinical experience has been spent working with children and young people, particularly those growing up with chronic illness, which is where my research and clinical interests mainly lie. I have held a number of leadership roles, as Head Occupational Therapist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and in Adult Rehabilitation Services within NHS Lothian. I am currently a Council member for the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), and as such, act as Director and Trustee of the RCOT and British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT).
I have previously worked as a Lecturer at the University of Derby and joined the team at Queen Margaret University in 2020. I am currently Level 1 Lead for the integrated Masters programme in Occupational Therapy, and Admissions Tutor for this programme. I am also an External Examiner for Wrexham University.
