I qualified as a Paramedic in 2012 when I completed my BSc. degree at Slovak Medical University in Bratislava, Faculty of Health in Banska Bystrica.
I joined ambulance service in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2012 and also continued my studies at St. Elizabeth University of Health and Social Sciences in Bratislava where I completed my MSc. degree and Doctoral studies in Public Health.
In 2015 I moved to UK, registered with HCPC and joined SouthWestern Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust as UK registered paramedic. Since then I primarily worked for SWAST around Bristol area.
Experience of pre-hospital work in UK sparked my interest in differences in the Healthcare systems and working environment between the two countries which informed my PhD. studies and research of Health and Safety in prehospital environment.
Since I qualified as a paramedic, I got involved in teaching of BSc. Paramedic students at my Alma Mater in Slovakia as a visiting lecturer and I helped to support multiple projects such as Erasmus project for Slovak student paramedics in 2017, and project collaboration with EUSEM (European society of emergency medicine) during the multidisciplinary Major incident exercise in 2017 held in Slovakia.
My interest in supporting new paramedics grew and mentorship became part of my Paramedic job. I joined QMU in 2020 and became Programme Lead for BSc. Paramedic Science. My professional interests are in active learning and simulation as well as disaster medicine and Public Health questions in prehospital environment.

Research Overview
My PhD research explored differences between Slovak and English system in regards to Health and Safety in pre-hospital environment. We focused on quality of health protective measures during moving and handling procedures in ambulance services. It was expressed by level of occurrence and severity of musculoskeletal disorders among front line ambulance staff. Slovak and English ambulance systems were compared as they have different approach to health and safety measures for patient moving and handling operations in practice.
Active research interests:
- Health and Safety in prehospital environment
- Simulation in Paramedic education
- Maternity topics in paramedic education and practice
I am a Programme leader for BSc. Paramedic Science programme and I deliver modules such as skills for paramedic practice and I participate in modules focused on research, leadership and mentorship.
