Dr Lesley-Ann Dickson (PhD, MSc, BA Hons) is a Senior Lecturer in Film and Media in the Media, Communication and Performing Arts Division. She is also a full member of the Centre for Communication, Cultural and Media Studies.

Lesley joined the Media, Communication and Performing Arts division at Queen Margaret University in 2015. Prior to QMU, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the West of Scotland and held teaching roles at the University of Stirling and University of Glasgow.ÌýLesley obtained her PhD in Film Studies from the University of Glasgow, which was funded under the AHRC’s former Collaborative Doctoral Award Scheme. She also holds an MSc in Publishing Studies from Edinburgh Napier University, and founded her own publishing business in 2012.Ìý

Research/Knowledge Exchange Centre membership:
Her research interests are primarily focused on cultural exhibition, reception and participation, with a special interest in cinema and film festivals. Her current Carnegie-funded research considers the children/youth film festival phenomenon, focusing on two case studies in Scotland. She heads up the Edinburgh International Film Audience Conference – a biannual event that brings together scholars working on empirical film audience research.
