Abhilash Sugunan Nair is a Lecturer in Management (Digital Marketing) within the Business School at Queen Margaret University.

Abhilash Sugunan Nair completed his undergraduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Kerala in 2010, graduating with the second-highest marks across all affiliated colleges. In 2011, he earned a master’s degree in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Leeds.
With over six years of experience in digital marketing and vocational training, Abhilash has held key roles, including Digital Marketing Curriculum Lead for a further education training provider and digital marketing coach and trainer for different organisations. He later joined Glasgow Caledonian University as a Doctoral Researcher, securing a competitive, fully-funded PhD scholarship.
Prior to joining Queen Margaret University, he served as a Visiting Lecturer at Leeds Trinity University and as the Programme Leader for the MSc in Luxury Marketing at Glasgow Caledonian University’s London campus.

Abhilash's PhD focuses on the relationship between social media influencers' social identity and their follower-based influencer brand equity in the fashion and lifestyle sector. His work examines how influencers' personal and social identities shape their human brands and impact their ability to generate brand equity through their followers.
He has contributed to the academic field through the publication of research papers, book chapters and conference presentations, specifically in the areas of human branding, influencer marketing and digital marketing communications
