Clinics
In addition to having a wide range of specialist clinical facilities for use by students of various allied health professional courses, we have podiatry clinics which are open to the public. These clinics take advantage of our dedicated podiatry facilities which include a surgical theatre suite, a multi-chaired clinic and an orthotics suite.
Before booking an initial appointment, you will be required to complete a short form, available from any of our clinics or by emailing clinics@qmu.ac.uk or phoning the number below.
You will then be invited to book a session at one of our podiatry clinics, where you will be assessed for treatment by one of our students, who are fully supervised by our experienced members of staff - thus benefiting not only you but also giving our students valuable clinical experience.
We have two clinics available:
Nail Surgery Clinic
This is situated on campus and is held on Thursdays, throughout term time only. This may include surgical management for ingrown toenails. This is a minor surgical procedure carried out under local anaesthetic for the treatment of ingrown toenails. For appointments at our clinic call us on Tel: 0131 474 0000.
Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinic
The functioning of the body can be affected by structural disorders of the leg and foot. Some of the lower limb conditions that are treated in this clinic include:
- Pain in the ball of the foot
- Heel pain (including plantar fasciitis)
- Ankle pain
- Bunions
- Arthritis of the foot and ankle
- Toe pain including hammer toes
- Morton’s neuroma
- Soft tissue injuries
- Ligament and tendon injuries
- Sports injuries
The student practitioner will assess you for any musculoskeletal dysfunction, recommending the next course of action to correct the problem. This is a teaching clinic and therefore there will be podiatrists to guide the students during assessments and management.
This clinic is held on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30 p.m., during term-time only. For appointments at our clinic call us on Tel: 0131 474 0000.
There may be an additional cost if there is a prescription of insoles required for management. They can vary in cost and will be discussed with the patient prior to any charge.
